Songs of Grace

Since we didn't get a lot of time to talk about hymns or other songs last night, I thought it would be fun to post some of those. For those of you who weren't there, what songs are special to you in terms or expressing God's grace and why?

Prayer request

My sister Judy, the oldest of us 5 Longest girls, has been battling colon cancer since 2005. She found out Tuesday, the 16th of September, that it has returned with a lesion on her brain and one on her spine. She will have surgery on Wednesday the 24th in New Orleans on the brain tumor...doctor feels confident that he can remove it. The tumor on the spine is a problem because she received so much radiation here the summer of 2007 before removal of cancerous lymph nodes in surgery at the Mayo clinic. She has been such a fighter but is rather deflated now. While my sisters all know about this recurrence my mother and Judy's children do not know just yet. You have helped pray her through so much in the past that I am asking again for good thoughts and lots of prayers. God is good all the time...

Week 1

Well, we're off to a great start! As you probably noticed, this study begins with some self exploration. It's good to get our bearings before beginning on a journey. God called Abram to leave the comfort of his homeland and the security of his family so that God could bless him, and the people would be blessed through him. God also calls us to move from our comfort zone so that we will put our trust in Him that we too might be used by God to be a blessing as He also blesses us. I heard someone on the radio the other day (I think Ravi Zacharias) say that much of our restlessness and dissatisfaction comes from our desire to seek happiness rather than blessedness. Interesting point to ponder. Have a great week.

Celebrating arrival at a Milepost

Just wanted to let you celebrate with me for having completed my part of recording for the CD.
Thanks for praying with me for this. It's been 3 years (almost to the day!) since I started dreaming and planning for this. It could take another month before we see the finished version for public release. They will then be available free. Anything given in return for it will be a donation to our ministry and used for training or supporting national pastors and evangelists in such countries as Ghana and Nigeria in Africa, and Russia, and India.

Welcome

Welcome to the Companions in Christ blog. I hope this will be a place you can share your random thoughts as we journey along. It should also be a place where you can check in if you have to miss a week, pose questions or challenge your fellow companions. Now, off we go...
